Last night after going with Barb to the Santa Barbara zoo and dinner, we took a walk out on the golf course at dusk. While walking across the fairway, Lily said,
"Mom, a snake, a snake."
Literally 5 feet from us was a California Kingsake!!!! It was roughly 4 feet in length and was hanging out on the grass. We quickly exited to the path, but were quite shaken up. The kids were super excited. Apparently, Kingsnakes are immune from rattlesnake venom and actually eat them!!! Harmless to humans, thankfully.
