Tonight, the kids met the neighbor kids. It was priceless. Mike and I watched nervously from the front step as Peter introduced themselves 3 houses down. There are a TON of kids on our block. A mom home schools 5 kids a few houses down. Most of the moms on my street either work from home or stay at home. It's great. There are a few kids Lily's age and a few Peter's age. The majority are a little older... But the kids are thrilled. And me too. They were playing sidewalk chalk and tag. It reminded me of my childhood. I looking forward to where that takes us.

As for the rest of the day, it was a bit of culture shock. Peter visited the doctor's office in Oxnard, which was cash only, and I was the only white gal in the office. They looked at me funny when I started talking about electronic medical records and had my own vaccination schedule. They soon advised me that I should visit the Camarillo location. The doctor was very thorough though. But it made Park Nicollet look like the Hilton.

And then we visited Lassen's, the Natural Foods store, which was depressing. I mean groceries were twice the price, and they STILL entered the price in the cash register instead of using UPC's. I mean seriously. My total came to $2,000 and some dollars before she realized that she made a keying error.... REALLY..... What century are we in. I think I need to visit Whole Foods soon.

I even went to get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube and they wanted $39.... I told them I would come back tomorrow. Yikers....

That's not to mention lunch....when lunch at a sub place for me and two kids cost $20!!!! Talk about sticker shock!!!

At least we met some nice people today.... and the kids are on their way to finding some friends.

The journey continues.
