The Longest Move EVER!!!!

Sunday came and went with no truck, not that we were expecting one or anything. This morning we got "news" that they had left Chicago and that we could expect a delivery between Tuesday and Friday. I talked to another person that said, "this weekend," but I bet it will be Wednesday of next week. I am getting more patient as the days roll on...

The conveniences of home are gradually starting to set it. Today, the cable guy connected Mike's 13' work t.v, so we were able to watch Justin Morneau win the Home Run Derby and...I even saw Paul Magers do the 5 o'clock news on Channel 2. Yipppeeee!!! I think the cable guy thought I was nuts when I did a little, "eeekkkk," when I saw him. The gas man also hooked up our dryer, so now we have clean clothes too!

We received an applicant on our Plymouth townhouse, so cross your fingers....

The weekend....

Sunday we took the kids north to Santa Barbara for a day by the beach. We rented a bicycle built for four and strolled along the coastal bike path. We stopped for a seaside lunch, some ice cream and managed to see a bunch of hermit crabs of the pier. Lily loved it! From there we set out to find a local winery, only to end up in SOLVANG!!! The drive was spectacular!!! We found a local wine tasting, took the kids to a Danish candy and toy store and departed...promising to go back for more. We meandered back to 101, in hopes of spotting the Reagan Ranch, to no avail. We then went for dinner in Ventura, before retiring for the evening.

Sunday was couch hunting day. After making our final selection, we stopped into the Green Burrito for lunch. While finishing up, I glanced over at the soda fountain, when who should be standing there, but BRETT!!!! They were on their way to Santa Barbara, when they pulled off for coffee, only to change their minds, and ended up there too!! Some things are just God things... We chatted for a bit and then, on their way home that night, they stopped in to see our place.

By the end of the weekend, though fun, I was starting to feel a little like I was on a desert island.... These kids and I need some things to do... and some friends.

Last night and today, I pulled out all the brochure's from the Chamber of Commerce, the Park & Rec, the YMCA, the library, and the Happening Magazine. I started clipping out activities, clubs, festivals, hikes, swim schools, classes, festivals, and things that we would be interested in. Then today I started calling. I called the Newcomer's Club, the Mom's Club, the Republican Women's Club, the Girl Scouts, the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club, a swim school, a pediatricians office, the DMV, and about a bagillion more places. I even took the kids on a walk, to go kid hunting.... No luck. But it was a good planning day.

Tomorrow, It looks like a trip to Home Depot to return dryer gas lines, a stop at Target for a slip mat for the kids bath, and maybe a drive to Thousand Oaks to see about a swim school.

One thing is for certain, I am totally loving the space in the house. Today the kids were out playing in the hose and I had complete freedom. It's pretty common that they just disappear upstairs for a while and I am able to do my own things. Total heaven!!!

And a quick note to anyone who's tried to call me.... I am REALLY low on cell phone minutes. I have already upgraded plans and only have 100 minutes for 6 days!!! Yikes!!! So, please don't take it personally that I am not returning phone calls. We will have a home phone on July 25th, not to mention my usage gets reset on July 21st. So, soon.

We signed the kids up for fall soccer.

And DID YOU SEE...

CNN Money voted Plymouth, MN the Best City in America!!!

I miss that place.

I feel very unique out here. I DO have an accent. I do look and act different. It's amazing what you learn about yourself being out of your "culture." I'm not sure if I will find any one like me here. I really feel as if there is a special niche in this world for my talents and ideas, which are unlike the rest of the world. Who knows where that will take me... But somewhere, I think.

The end.
