I know, I know, I haven't posted in a while. I am sorry to all my loyal fans. I have just been busy. Busy cleaning my garage in the middle of winter!!! And my closets and my cupboards and my drawers. I always get in the mood just after Christmas. Just when I realize my house is too small for all the gifts we received. But, I found a place for them all. And, being that I am so proud that I will never have to clean them again, I think I may even post pictures of them on the Internet. So, keep posted.
Mike, Lily, Peter and I had a very nice Christmas. I am convinced that the kids now have every toy, c.d., and book on the market. They had a good Christmas spending time with their grandparents and their nieces. Lily's favorite toys seems to be the Philadelphia Chicken book/c.d., Jillian (a Cabbagepatch), and her cash register. While Peter's favorites are a Baby Einstein windup, his new warm quilt, and his teether. I myself got a stroller and a highchair for Christmas. Ah, the joys of motherhood. But, Christmas seemed to come and go so fast. Lily was pretty sad this week when the garbage man took the Christmas tree. She keeps asking when we are going to get a new one.
As for New Year's, I was meaning to post the best and worst of the year, but got so caught up in cleaning that it never happened. Maybe I will post something later this month similar.
Other than that, Peter went in for an MRI yesterday. It sounds a little scary, but everything turned out fine. At Peter's 6 month well child his doctor noticed that he has a patch of hair growing at the base of spine. Being that it's a sign of spina bifida, he ordered an MRI under sedation. So, we went in for it yesterday and Peter did wonderful! He ate when he needed to eat, slept when they wanted him to sleep, and woke up as if nothing ever happened (and very quick as if to not miss any action). It was a relief to me. So, we got the results today. They were really good. He didn't have any malformations of the spine, their were no abnormal firing of the nerves, and his bundle of nerves were in tact. They did find a 1.8mm fat lump on his T1, which was causing the hairgrowth. They said that a lump that small usually is asymptomatic and should not cause any problems. However, the protocol is to monitor his lower nerve function through adolescence into adulthood. So, that was a breath of relief for Mike and I. We have been having such bad luck lately, it was nice to have positive news.
It's seems like there are a million things going on right now. Lily and I have been touring preschool as of late. I am so undecided as to what to do this fall. Being that Lily's birthday is on September 3rd, she is going to miss the Kindergarten cut off. So, if we started her in preschool, which she is clearly ready for, she would be in preschool for 4 years! That's a little much, I think. I want Peter to be able to be in his own things like swimming and ECFE. Yet, I think this is the year that a good bond could form between Peter and Lily. So, what do I do? I am leaning towards putting her in a 1 or 2 day program that is Christian based. I want the preschool to have both a Christian background and a good curriculum, but am having trouble finding one that is within 15 minutes of our house. And, the one I do want to get into registers via a lottery, so we have slim chances of getting in. We will see how this plays out.
Mike and I also have been listening to/reading the book The Purpose Driven Life. I am getting a lot out of it. It is really challenging me to think about my life, my family's life, and my relationship with God. It's amazing how you get so caught up in the details and distractions in life. I don't know if I have ever been in such a position of challenging my faith. I don't know what it is about my place in life, but for some reason I am feeling a need to find answers. This book has really helped me to start to figure things out for myself.
Other than that we went to a beautiful wedding last Friday night (I got to wear my P-Ball Dress), we are working out (I ended my workout routine, can do over 25 push ups, and am down to 22% bodyfat), cheering on the Vikes (I still hate football), saving for a bigger house (we actually got rid of Culligan AND extended cable), dealing with a picky eater (she won't even eat Spagetti Os), reading Travis's website, buying time until our activities start up again, and staying warm. Lily, Peter, and I are going to head out in the sled to make a snowman for the first time tomorrow. We have had such a weird winter.
Oh, and one more thing!!! I got to see Megan's wedding dress this weekend. It's is absolutely breathtaking! And, since the news is out... Congratulation Megan and Scott on your engagement. I can't wait for August 13th.
AND, Congratulations to Christine, Eric and Julia on the birth of Braydon William. We can't wait until Peter and Braydon can play together! I'm sure Lily and Julia will have a great time with the two of them.
